I completed the Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at Harvard University. I was one
of thirty-eight selected among over 2,000 applicants. In this prestigious program, I examined the
responsibilities of leadership and the difficulties of leading in complex environments. I explored
strategies for establishing organizational objectives, and investigated the process of developing business
policies and procedures. I learned new options for organizing and deploying limited resources that have been
particularly helpful in my own business and in my client’s businesses. My classmates included members of
Congress, U.S. Senators, Mayors, Police Chiefs and heads of state in foreign governments.
I completed Leadership at The Peak in Colorado. This program is open only to senior executives and leaders
with more than 15 years of management experience, in the top three tiers of the organization, with
leadership responsibility for 500 or more people. This program not only allowed me to clinically critique my public
image and communication skills, but also gave me valuable tactics for improving work environments and
developing and implementing high level business strategies.
I created the LaVera J. Gaston Scholarship Fund in 1999 to provide funding for the underprivileged students to
attend California State University Sacramento, my Alma Mater.

This is my volunteer service to the community. I teach the basics of personal finance and money management
to high school students so that they develop habits and attitudes about money that will positively
